After a 3rd quarter that featured multiple defensive stops, St. Rita entered the 4th quarter with a high intensity as they aimed to stage a comeback. A long drive ended with Brandon Johnson Jr. finding pay dirt to cut the lead to one score. Providence Catholic looked to put the game away on their next possession, but the Mustangs special teams stepped up and stopped a fake punt attempt to take over on the 37-yard line. Maryville vs Alcoa (TN)

The Alcoa Tornadoes secured a thrilling 43–42 double-overtime victory on the road against their crosstown rival, the Maryville Rebels, in another historic installment of the Battle of Pistol Creek, one of 100 games featured in the Great American Rivalry Series. The Rebels fought hard to protect their home turf after Alcoa struck first with a rushing touchdown to make it 7-0 early. Alcoa led for the majority of the first half until Maryville quarterback Will Jones threw a touchdown pass to sophomore receiver Reese Gardner with just 15 seconds remaining, tying the game 14-14 going into halftime. Late in the second half, Alcoa took a 28-21 lead, but the Rebels answered again with a late fourth-quarter touchdown drive to tie the game at 28 and push it into overtime. At this point, Alcoa was playing without star quarterback Thomas Manu, who had been forced to leave the game due to an injury. Despite the setback, the Tornadoes’ backup quarterback came in and matched Maryville score-for-score through the end of regulation and the first overtime period. In the second overtime, Maryville found the end zone first, but Manu returned to the field and, under heavy defensive pressure, scrambled out of the pocket and launched a game-winning two-point conversion pass to Haynes Hawkins in the back of the end zone. The decision to bypass a tying extra-point kick paid off, securing Alcoa’s third consecutive victory in this storied crosstown rivalry, 43-42.

 Kathleen vs Lakeland (FL)

Lakeland opened the 2026 season with a 47–0 victory over Kathleen on August 21 at Kathleen High School. The Dreadnaughts established control early, using a balanced offensive attack and a defense that kept the Red Devils from finding the end zone. Lakeland’s offense totaled 207 passing yards and 54 rushing yards, while its defense limited Kathleen’s opportunities throughout the night. Kathleen continued to compete as the game progressed but was unable to generate enough offense to close the gap. With both teams playing their first game of the season, the matchup provided an early opportunity to evaluate each team’s execution, physicality, and overall performance as the season gets underway.

 Mary Carroll vs Gregory-Portland (TX)

The 2026 Battle of the Bridge brought Mary Carroll and Gregory-Portland together for another chapter in their long-standing rivalry at Buccaneer Stadium on August 27. Both teams came into the matchup ready to set the tone for the season in front of a spirited crowd.

Gregory-Portland came out strong, building a 22-0 lead after the first quarter behind a pair of rushing touchdowns and a safety. The Wildcats continued to control the momentum in the second quarter, adding two more touchdowns to take a 36-0 advantage into halftime.

Mary Carroll continued to battle in the second half and found the scoreboard while working to slow the Wildcats’ offensive attack. Gregory-Portland maintained its offensive production throughout the remainder of the game, finishing with a 53-6 victory.

With another chapter now in the books, the Battle of the Bridge once again showcased the competition, tradition, and community pride that make this rivalry one of the most anticipated matchups of the season. Both programs will now turn their attention to the remainder of the 2026 season.

Tullahoma vs Coffee County (TN)

The 2026 Great American Rivalry Series made its way to Tullahoma, Tennessee, as the Tullahoma Wildcats hosted the Coffee County Red Raiders in another chapter of their historic rivalry. Coffee County came out firing, controlling the first half and building an impressive 21-0 advantage. With the Wildcats searching for a spark, Tullahoma finally found the end zone with just 36 seconds remaining in the half, putting their first points on the board and giving the home crowd something to rally behind. That late touchdown proved to be the turning point. Tullahoma came out of halftime with renewed energy and completely shifted the momentum of the game. After cutting into Coffee County’s lead, the Wildcats caught fire in the third quarter, eventually tying the game at 21. With the home crowd behind them, Tullahoma continued applying pressure and surged ahead 28-21 before Coffee County could regain control. From there, the Wildcats never looked back. Tullahoma continued to make plays on both sides of the ball, completing an incredible comeback after facing a three score deficit. Led by No. 20 Dominic Harris, who earned Game MVP honors, the Wildcats finished the night strong and secured a 34-21 victory over Coffee County. What began as a commanding Coffee County performance turned into a memorable comeback for Tullahoma, as the Wildcats defended their home field and added another exciting chapter to this historic rivalry.

Atlantic Coast vs Mandarin (FL)

The Atlantic Coast vs. Mandarin matchup was a dominant performance by the Mustangs, who wasted no time setting the tone by getting on the scoreboard just two minutes into the game. Mandarin’s offense continued to fire on all cylinders, led by their MVP Shaunqueze Foster, who powered his way to 112 rushing yards and two touchdowns on just 15 carries. Quarterback Knox Annis also delivered a standout performance, throwing for 108 yards and two touchdowns to keep the Mustangs’ attack rolling. Brysen Wright added to the offensive explosion with two touchdowns of his own, including an outstanding toe-tap catch that kept the ball just out of the reach of the opposition. With both sides of the ball clicking throughout the night, Mandarin cruised to a commanding 50–0 shutout victory, delivering a statement performance from start to finish.

West Jones vs Laurel (MS)

Laurel opened the 2026 season with a 56–42 comeback victory over West Jones on August 28. The Golden Tornados found themselves down 35–14 late in the second quarter, but responded with a dominant stretch just before halftime and coming out of the half that shifted the momentum of the game. Laurel scored 21 unanswered points during that stretch, using its relentless offensive attack to overcome the deficit and take control of the matchup. The game also featured two kickoff returns for touchdowns, adding to an already high-scoring night. West Jones quarterback Tootie Lindsey passed for more than 250 yards and three touchdowns, but the Mustangs were unable to keep pace with Laurel’s offensive production in the second half. Despite competing throughout the game, West Jones could not slow the Golden Tornados’ ramped-up offense and ultimately took the loss to open its season. With both teams playing their first game of the season, the matchup provided an early opportunity to evaluate each team’s execution, resilience, and ability to respond to momentum swings as the season gets underway.

El Paso vs Austin (TX)

Austin High came away with a 26-13 victory over El Paso High in the latest Battle of the Claw, continuing its recent dominance in the historic rivalry. The Panthers controlled much of the game early, using a strong rushing attack and solid defensive play to build a comfortable lead heading into halftime. El Paso High responded with a strong second-half push, creating some momentum and cutting into the deficit, but Austin was able to settle down and regain control. The Panthers’ physical style and consistency on both sides of the ball ultimately proved to be the difference, as Austin closed out the night with another rivalry victory and kept the Claw in its possession.

San Marcos vs Hays (TX)

San Marcos’ four‑year wait for the 19th edition of the Hays County Showdown did not disappoint, as the Rattlers’ late comeback fell just short in a 29–27 loss to arch‑rival Hays. The victory extends Hays’ head‑to‑head advantage to 15–4 and marks the Hawks’ first win over San Marcos since 2020. After Friday night’s matchup was postponed due to weather, the showdown resumed under the Saturday night lights — and delivered a thriller. Trailing 29–27 with 24 seconds remaining, San Marcos elected to go for a two‑point conversion, but the attempt failed, allowing Hays to escape with the win. Hays’ Great American Rivalry MVP Gabriel Peach powered the Hawks’ offense, rushing for 125 yards and two touchdowns to secure the road victory for Hays High School.

Sycamore vs Mason (OH)

Mason defeated Sycamore 43–24 on Friday night in a game that was much closer than the final score indicated early on. Sycamore took an early 6–0 lead, but Mason answered with a strong rushing attack and led 14–12 at halftime. The Comets broke the game open in the third quarter, scoring three touchdowns to take a 35–18 lead before adding another score in the fourth. Mason junior quarterback Alex Nagel was the difference-maker, rushing for 189 yards and four touchdowns on 19 carries, while Mason finished with 319 rushing yards and six rushing touchdowns overall. Sycamore quarterback Zachary Branam had an impressive night through the air, completing 26 of 35 passes for 346 yards and four touchdowns, but three Sycamore turnovers and just 63 rushing yards ultimately proved costly. Mason pulled away in the second half to secure the 43–24 victory.

Lawton Eisenhower vs Lawton (OK)

Welcome to Cameron Stadium, where the Lawton High Wolverines will host the traveling Lawton Eisenhower Eagles. In a rivalry that began in the mid-1960s, this Oklahoma matchup is one of over 100 featured games in the 23rd season of the Great American Rivalry Series. 

Currently, Lawton High is in control of the series with a 37-28 all-time record over Lawton Eisenhower. However, the rivalry has remained one of the fiercest in Southwest Oklahoma, with both programs trading victories in recent seasons. Last season, the Wolverines turned in a dominant 42-6 victory over the Eagles, reclaiming city bragging rights in one of Oklahoma's premier intra-city rivalries.

 Estancia vs Costa Mesa (CA)

The historic California "Battle for the Bell" rivalry between the Costa Mesa Mustangs and Estancia Eagles entered its 56th chapter on Friday August 28, 2026. Coming into the matchup, the Eagles of Estancia had dominated this rivalry by riding a four-game winning streak and claiming victory in 11 of the previous 12 encounters. For Estancia, the annual showdown at Jim Scott Stadium was an opportunity to cement their neighborhood supremacy and open their season with an emotional statement while the Mustangs were trying to desperately rewrite history and put an end to their current four-game losing streak against the Eagles.

In the 2026 installment of the "Battle for the Bell," Costa Mesa would indeed turn the tide in the rivalry by dominating Estancia  from start to finish. The Mustangs would score a rushing touchdown on their opening drive and not look back after that, as their offense kept their foot on the gas for the entirety of the game. Their offense racked up 437 total yards of offense and finished with six touchdowns to emphatically end their four-game losing streak against Estancia, by a final score of 41-7. The games' MVP, Costa Mesa running back Gavin Garza showed out with an impressive 112 yards rushing and two touchdowns on the night. The "Battle for the Bell" is one of Orange County's most iconic community traditions, tracing all the way back to 1966. Even with last night's tough loss, Estancia continues to lead the all-time series.

 Northridge vs Box Elder (UT)

The Northridge Knights and Box Elder Bees met in Layton, Utah, on September 4 for a matchup that brought both teams together under the Friday night lights. Both teams battled through a scoreless first quarter before Box Elder began to establish momentum. The Bees found success offensively in the second quarter and carried a 10–0 advantage into halftime. Box Elder continued to build on its lead during the second half, adding to the scoreboard with a touchdown in the third quarter. The Bees maintained their momentum throughout the final quarter, adding another touchdown and a late field goal to secure the 34–0 victory. Despite the final score, both teams continued to compete throughout the contest, with the matchup providing plenty of action from kickoff through the final whistle.

 Mascoutah vs Highland (IL)

The Highland Bulldogs and the Mascoutah Indians did not disappoint in this year’s rivalry matchup, which was featured as one of the over 100 games in the 2026 Great American Rivalry Series. The Highland Bulldogs struck first in this high scoring affair matchup of cross-town rivals. Touchdowns were traded back and forth in the first half until right before halftime. With just 3 minutes left on the clock, the Bulldogs came up with a big third down stop in the redzone to force the Indians to settle for a field goal to take the 24-21 lead. The Bulldogs quickly responded with a touchdown pass at the 1-minute mark to take the 28-24 lead going into to halftime. The Indians received the kick to start the second half and did not waste any time in their first drive out of the locker room. Sean Murphy, running back for the Indians, took it to the house early in the drive for a 77-yard touchdown run. The Indians and Bulldogs continued to trade punches throughout the rest of the game. With 4 minutes left on the clock, the Indians relied heavy on the run game and marched down the field to take the 52-49 lead with just 2 minutes left in the game. This looked like the nail in the coffin for the Bulldogs, but running back Carter Harris had something to say about that. Harris scored his third touchdown of the game with 25 seconds left on the clock, to lead his Bulldogs to a 56-52 victory over the Indians. Harris was named the Great American Rivalry Series MVP of the game with a standout performance of 266 rushing yards, 98 receiving yards, and 3 touchdowns.

 Harlingen South vs Harlingen (TX)

Harlingen wasted little time putting its stamp on Friday night’s Bird Bowl rivalry, turning in a dominant performance on both sides of the ball to cruise past Harlingen South, 49-3, at Harlingen South High School. The Cardinals controlled the game from the outset, piling up 49 points while holding the Hawks to just three. The victory moved Harlingen to 2-0 on the season, while Harlingen South dropped to 0-2. Quarterback, Hassan Woolery led the way for the Cardinals, completing 12 of 17 passes for 185 yards and a touchdown while adding 105 yards and a touchdown on eight carries. His ability to make plays both through the air and on the ground kept the Harlingen offense moving throughout the night. Wide receiver, Dayton Mireles also played a key role, recording three catches for 66 yards. As a team, Harlingen finished with 208 passing yards and 242 rushing yards, producing a balanced offensive attack that proved too much for the Hawks to contain. Harlingen South had some individual bright spots despite the difficult night. Kamron Love ran for 110 yards on 19 carries, while quarterback Miguel Arizmendi completed 10 of 18 passes for 101 yards. Luke Ramirez added three receptions for 49 yards. The loss was a particularly tough result for the Hawks after they had defeated Harlingen 17-0 in last year’s meeting, ending a long stretch of frustration in the rivalry. Friday’s result swung the momentum emphatically back toward the Cardinals, who now lead the all-time series 27-6. For Harlingen, the victory continues an impressive start to the 2026 season. The Cardinals opened the year with a 42-13 win over Rowe before putting together another convincing performance against their crosstown rival. Harlingen South, meanwhile, will look to regroup quickly. The Hawks return to action Friday, Sept. 11, against King, while Harlingen will face Eagle Pass on Thursday. For one night, though, the Bird Bowl belonged decisively to the Cardinals. Harlingen’s combination of explosive offense, defensive control and strong quarterback play turned a highly anticipated rivalry game into a 49-3 statement victory.

Waterloo vs Columbia (IL)

The 2026 Great American Rivalry Series made its way to Waterloo, as the Waterloo Bulldogs hosted the Columbia Eagles in another chapter of their historic rivalry. Waterloo came out firing, controlling the game and building an impressive 21-7 advantage in the first half. With Columbia searching for a spark, the Eagles continued to battle throughout the night, but Waterloo maintained control and never allowed Columbia to regain momentum. From there, the Bulldogs never looked back. Waterloo continued to make plays on both sides of the ball, putting together a dominant performance from start to finish. Led by No. 10 Chase Zimmerman, who earned Game MVP honors, the Bulldogs finished the night strong and secured a 31-7 victory over Columbia. What began as another highly anticipated matchup between two historic rivals turned into a memorable night for Waterloo, as the Bulldogs defended their home field and added another exciting chapter to this storied rivalry.

Lawrence Central vs Lawrence North (IN)

The Battle of the Bell belonged to the Wildcats on Friday night, as Lawrence North dominated Lawrence Central from start to finish with a 42-0 victory. Lawrence North set the tone early, scoring in the first quarter before adding 21 points in the second to take a 28-0 lead into halftime. Quarterback Darian Prather led the Wildcats’ offensive attack with an outstanding performance, completing 10 of 11 passes for 274 yards and two touchdowns. MVP IzayveonMoore was equally impressive, rushing for 62 yards and two touchdowns on 10 carries while adding 77 receiving yards and another touchdown. Moore’s 77-yard touchdown reception in the third quarter pushed the Wildcats’ lead to 35-0 and highlighted an offensive performance that produced 450 total yards. Lawrence North continued to control the game on both sides of the ball, scoring in every quarter while its defense completely shut down the Bears. The Wildcats forced five turnovers, including three interceptions and two fumble recoveries, preventing Lawrence Central from finding any rhythm throughout the night. With the win, Lawrence North improved to 2-1 on the season, while Lawrence Central fell to 1-2.

Lufkin vs Nacogdoches (TX)

The Panthers set the tone early and took control from the start. Lufkin’s offense consistently moved the ball and put points on the board, while the defense kept Nacogdoches out of the end zone. The Dragons managed just two field goals in the first half as the Panthers continued to make key stops. Heading into halftime, the Panthers had a 23-6 lead. Nacogdoches found the end zone in the third quarter, but the Dragons couldn’t build enough momentum to make it a game. Lufkin continued to make plays on both sides of the ball and closed out the night with a 37-21 victory. Linebacker Joshua Bennett led the way defensively and was named The Great American Rivalry Series MVP. Bennett was active around the football throughout the night, helping the Panthers keep the Dragons from finding a consistent offensive rhythm.

Longview vs Marshall (TX)

Longview put together a statement performance Friday night, overpowering Marshall 61-13 behind an explosive offense and a relentless defensive effort. From the opening kickoff, Longview controlled the game on both sides of the ball. The Lobos’ offense consistently created big plays, while the defense made it difficult for Marshall to find any rhythm throughout the night. Through the air, Longview connected on multiple explosive touchdown passes, including several receiving touchdowns of more than 40 yards. The big-play passing attack repeatedly stretched the Marshall defense and gave Longview’s offense momentum whenever it needed it. Longview was just as effective on the ground. The running game consistently picked up yards and kept the Marshall defense on its heels, allowing the Lobos to control the tempo and continue putting points on the board. The combination of a strong rushing attack and explosive plays through the air made Longview’s offense difficult to slow down. Special teams provided another highlight for the Lobos when Longview broke loose for a huge punt return touchdown, adding another explosive play to an already impressive night. While the offense grabbed much of the attention, Longview’s defense was equally impressive. The Lobos played with intensity from start to finish, limiting Marshall’s opportunities and helping the offense repeatedly regain possession. The defensive performance was a major reason Longview was able to build such a commanding lead. By the final whistle, Longview had put together a 61-13 victory that showcased the team’s ability to make plays in every phase of the game — offense, defense and special teams.

Lawton McArthur vs Lawton Eisenhower (OK)

The Lawton County rivalry has favored the MacArthur High School Highlanders since 2010. MacArthur has won 17 of the last 21 meetings, and Eisenhower entered the Battle of the Boulevard at Cameron Stadium looking to shift the momentum. With temperatures reaching 100 degrees at kickoff, the non-conference matchup heated up quickly. MacArthur scored all seven first-half touchdowns and built a commanding 46-12 halftime lead over the Eagles. MacArthur’s Isaiah Ward accounted for three of the Highlanders’ seven touchdowns and earned the game’s MVP award. Neither team scored in the second half, as Eisenhower was unable to rally through the passing game. MacArthur controlled the clock after halftime and finished with a 46-12 victory. Eisenhower remained winless in the 2026 season, while MacArthur improved to 1-1.

Kent-Meridian vs Auburn (WA)

Kent-Meridian opened its home schedule with a difficult 53–0 loss to Auburn. The Trojans got off to a red-hot start, scoring 28 points in the first quarter alone and quickly taking control of the matchup. Auburn’s explosive offense and pressure on defense put the Royals in an early hole, making it difficult for Kent-Meridian to find any rhythm as the game progressed. The Royals showed signs of life in the second quarter, marching down the field on an impressive drive that featured a big 30-yard catch and run, setting Kent-Meridian up at the Auburn one-yard line. However, Auburn’s defense came up with a crucial play two snaps later, intercepting the ball in the end zone to preserve the shutout and keep the Royals off the scoreboard. Auburn continued to control the game on both sides of the ball, adding to its advantage while preventing Kent-Meridian from capitalizing on its scoring opportunity. Despite the Royals’ strong second-quarter drive and effort to create momentum, Auburn’s defense remained dominant and secured the shutout. The loss gave Kent-Meridian a challenging start to its home schedule, while Auburn left with a convincing victory after controlling the matchup from the opening quarter through the final whistle.

Victor Valley vs Apple Valley (CA)

Victor Valley came out on top of Apple Valley 20–7 in the annual Bell Game on Friday, September 11, 2026, in Victorville. After a scoreless first quarter, Victor Valley got on the board and took a 6–0 lead into halftime. Apple Valley answered with a score in the third quarter, but Victor Valley responded with another touchdown in the fourth to pull away and secure the 13-point victory. Victor Valley quarterback P. Rapattoni had a big night, completing 11 of 22 passes for 232 yards and two touchdowns. Aiden Tanks was his top target, hauling in four catches for 126 yards and two touchdowns. On the Apple Valley side, C. Higgs led the rushing attack with 87 yards and a touchdown on 20 carries, while D. Swan-Satterwhite made six catches for 105 yards.

Piqua vs Troy (OH)

Troy came away with a hard-fought 28-14 win against Piqua in the latest Battle on the Miami! Troy commanded an early lead against Piqua, with WR Camryn Mangas returning the opening kickoff. After a series of defensive stops the Indians responded with a 39-yard passing touchdown to WR Cam Albright to end the first half. Both teams came out of halftime fired up and made multiple defensive stops. Troy gained momentum again when Camryn Mangas found his way into the end zone, this time with a rushing touchdown. Piqua answered early in the fourth quarter with a passing touchdown to tie the game up. After a series of defensive stops for both teams the Trojans had a thrilling 87 yard drive which was capped off with a QB sneak by QB Colton Adkins to put Troy up 21-14 with 2:00 on the clock. Piqua executed an efficient two minute drill to push the ball past midfield, but with 9 seconds to spare Troy sealed the win with an impressive 75 yard pick six to seal the game. Pueblo Centennial vs Pueblo Central (CO)

The 2026 Colorado high school football season featured one of the state's most historic rivalries as the Pueblo Central Wildcats traveled to Dutch Clark Stadium to take on the Pueblo Centennial Bulldogs in the 126th edition of the Bell Game. The rivalry, which dates back to 1892, brought another packed crowd together on Friday night as both teams battled for the coveted Bell. The Wildcats took control of the game early, using a strong rushing attack to jump out to an 8-0 lead after a 15-yard touchdown run from Dontez Maes. Central continued to build momentum in the first quarter as Sonny Vigil added another rushing touchdown, extending the Wildcats' advantage to 16-0. Central's offense continued to find success in the second quarter, with Maes scoring his second touchdown of the night before Cordell Hayes added another score. The Wildcats entered halftime with a commanding 30-0 advantage. After halftime, Central continued to control the game on both sides of the ball. The Wildcats' defense kept Centennial off the scoreboard while forcing two turnovers and limiting the Bulldogs' offense from finding any consistent rhythm. Central's young backfield continued to make an impact throughout the night as the Wildcats added two more touchdowns in the second half to finish off the 43-0 victory. Dontez Maes led the way for Central's rushing attack, finding the end zone multiple times, while Sonny Vigil and Cordell Hayes also contributed touchdowns. Quarterbacks Zion Aguilar and Sonny Vigil helped lead a Central offense that produced five total touchdowns from its backfield. The Wildcats capped off the night with a 43-0 shutout victory, extending their Bell Game winning streak to eight straight years. Central improved to 2-1 on the season, while Centennial fell to 0-3.

Rutland vs Hartford (VT)

Rutland put together a strong performance Friday night, shutting out Hartford 14-0 behind an efficient passing game and a dominant defensive effort. From the opening kickoff, Rutland played with control on both sides of the ball, making the plays necessary to come away with the victory. Through the air, Rutland’s passing game provided a key spark throughout the night. The Raiders moved the ball effectively through the air, making timely completions and keeping the Hartford defense from settling into a rhythm. Rutland’s ability to throw the football consistently helped the offense sustain drives and create opportunities to put points on the board. While the offense produced when it needed to, Rutland’s defense was the story of the night. The Raiders played with intensity and discipline, limiting Hartford’s opportunities and keeping the Hurricanes off the scoreboard. Rutland’s defensive effort helped maintain control of the game and preserve the shutout through the final whistle. Both teams also made plays in the secondary, with Rutland and Hartford each coming away with an interception. The turnovers highlighted the defensive battle and showed the ability of both teams to make plays when the ball was in the air. By the final whistle, Rutland had secured a 14-0 victory over Hartford, combining a solid passing attack with a defense that consistently kept the Hurricanes out of the end zone. The Raiders’ balanced effort on both sides of the ball allowed them to finish the night with a well-earned shutout victory.

Lakeville South vs Shakopee (MN)

The Shakopee and Lakeville South matchup has developed into a meaningful Minnesota rivalry, with Lakeville South having enjoyed some recent success against the Sabers, particularly in the postseason. Shakopee entered Friday’s game having won the most recent meeting and were looking to prove that last year’s result was no accident. Under the Friday night lights in Lakeville, Lakeville South struck first, but the Sabers quickly flipped the momentum with 17 unanswered points before halftime. Shakopee’s defense created pressure and disrupted the Cougars’ offense, helping the Sabers take control of the game. Lakeville South fought back early in the third quarter when Griffen Dean scored a touchdown, cutting into Shakopee’s lead and briefly shifting the momentum. However, Shakopee refused to fold, responding with a strong second-half push to regain control and pull away. The Sabers’ defense held Lakeville South to just two touchdowns throughout the entire game and their offense stepped it up on their end as well. After scoring only nine points in its season opener, Shakopee exploded for 32 points against a highly ranked Lakeville South team. The 32–14 victory moved the Sabers to 2–0 and served as an early but monumental win for Shakopee that demonstrated how they could overcome adversity and withstand a comeback attempt against one of the area’s top teams.

Mankato West vs Mankato East (MN)

Welcome to Blakeslee Stadium in Mankato, Minnesota, where 6,000 fans will gather for one of the state's most emotional and tradition-rich rivalries—The Jug Game between the Mankato West Scarlets and the Mankato East Cougars. First played in 1974, the rivalry ignited just two years later in 1976 when the schools officially split, sparking a fierce cross-town battle that has only grown more intense with time. This year's matchup will be featured in the 23rd season of the Great American Rivalry Series, honoring over 100 of the nation's greatest high school football rivalries. 

Mankato West leads the all-time series 21–6 and had long dominated the rivalry, winning 21 straight games at one point. But the last two seasons have told a different story, Mankato East flipped the script yet with a 35–15 win in 2024 and a 28-7 win last year as they start their own streak and bring new energy to one of Minnesota's most passionate showdowns.

St. Xavier vs Moeller (OH)

Welcome to RDI Stadium, where the Saint Xavier Bombers will host their longtime rival the Moeller Crusaders. In a rivalry that began in 1962, this historic Ohio matchup will be one of over 100 featured games in the 23rd season of the Great American Rivalry Series. 

Moeller has been in control of this series, leading 49-26-1 over the Bombers of Saint Xavier and they've proved it with 3 straight season sweeps of regular season and playoff meetings from 2022-2024. However, they couldn't pull off another sweep last season, as Saint Xavier pulled out a 17-13 win in their OHSAA Division I Regional Semifinal matchup, thanks to a 92-yard game-winning drive. Every season, the Moeller–St. Xavier matchup carries league championship implications and frequently serves as a postseason preview. The rivalry has also featured numerous Division I college recruits and future NFL players, like Hall of Fame Linebacker Luke Kuechly (Saint Xavier) and former Cincinnati Bengals Defensive End Sam Hubbard (Moeller).

Sun Prairie East vs Sun Prairie West (WI)

Welcome to Bank of Sun Prairie Stadium at Ashley Field, where the Sun Prairie East Cardinals will host the Sun Prairie West Wolves in one of Wisconsin's newest yet fastest-growing rivalries. This crosstown showdown is one of over 100 featured games in the 23rd season of the Great American Rivalry Series. 

Born in 2022 following the opening of Sun Prairie West High School, this rivalry immediately became one of the state's most anticipated matchups. After years of competing as one program, former teammates suddenly found themselves on opposite sidelines, creating an emotional and highly competitive atmosphere unlike any other in Wisconsin. Coaches and players from both schools circled the inaugural meeting long before the season began, recognizing the significance of dividing one proud football tradition into two. 

Sun Prairie East claimed the inaugural meeting in 2022 and has controlled much of the early series, including a 37-13 victory last season. Despite the rivalry's young age, both schools compete in the highly competitive Badger Large Conference and have quickly established themselves as annual playoff contenders. The Cardinals continue the tradition of one of Wisconsin's most successful programs, while the Wolves have rapidly built an identity of their own.

Glenbard South vs Glenbard East (IL)

Welcome to Memorial Field, where the Glenbard East Rams will host the Glenbard South Raiders in a DuPage County rivalry that has become a staple of Illinois high school football. This matchup is one of over 100 featured games in the 23rd season of the Great American Rivalry Series. 

Separated by only a few miles, these neighboring programs have built a rivalry fueled by community pride and conference implications. Glenbard East traces its history back to the original Glenbard High School, while Glenbard South has established itself as a consistent contender in Illinois football since opening in 1972. 

Both schools have produced numerous collegiate athletes and have enjoyed postseason success throughout their histories. The annual meeting often draws one of the largest crowds of the season as former classmates, neighbors, and family members find themselves on opposite sidelines.

Wauwatosa East vs Wauwatosa West (WI)

Welcome to Hart Park Stadium in Wisconsin, where 2,500 fans will gather for the "Battle for Tosa" between the Wauwatosa East Red Raiders and the Wauwatosa West Trojans. First played in 2011, this crosstown rivalry has quickly become a fall tradition and will be featured in the 23rd season of the Great American Rivalry Series, highlighting over 100 of the nation's greatest high school football matchups. 

Across 13 total meetings, Wauwatosa West leads the all-time series 12–2, controlling the rivalry since its inception. Last season was no different as the Trojans took home a 21-7 victory. The East Raiders will look to get back on track this year as the stage is set for this year's highly anticipated rematch.
