The 2026 Oklahoma high school football season opened with a big-time matchup as the Eisenhower Eagles hosted the Lawton Wolverines in one of the area’s most intense rivalries held in Cameron University Stadium. The Wolverines took control of the game early, as they used a dominant offensive attack to jump out to a commanding lead over the Eagles 14-0 off the back of two rushing touchdowns from Joseph Simpson and Erik Knighton. Lawton continued to build momentum in the 2nd quarter as the Oklahoma commit Noah Smith threw three passing touchdowns and their defense kept Eisenhower off the scoreboard. The Wolverines entered halftime with a 34-0 advantage. After halftime, the Wolverines continued to dominate on both sides of the ball, as Lawton’s offense continued to find success through the air with Smith adding another passing touchdown with his pass finding Quovon Coston Jr. in the endzone. Their defense improved on their form from the first half and even forced the Eagles into a safety! The wolverines capped off their scorching offense with another rushing touchdown by Joseph Simpson just before the end of the 3rd quarter making it two for him on the day. Quarterback Noah Smith could not be stopped, throwing for 288 yards and four touchdowns while completing an impressive 81% of his passes. Smith also added 30 yards rushing earning himself MVP honors. The game ended with a lobsided scoreline that saw Lawton take home a 52-0 win and start 1-0 on their season.
