Mason defeated Sycamore 43–24 on Friday night in a game that was much closer than the final score indicated early on. Sycamore took an early 6–0 lead, but Mason answered with a strong rushing attack and led 14–12 at halftime. The Comets broke the game open in the third quarter, scoring three touchdowns to take a 35–18 lead before adding another score in the fourth. Mason junior quarterback Alex Nagel was the difference-maker, rushing for 189 yards and four touchdowns on 19 carries, while Mason finished with 319 rushing yards and six rushing touchdowns overall. Sycamore quarterback Zachary Branam had an impressive night through the air, completing 26 of 35 passes for 346 yards and four touchdowns, but three Sycamore turnovers and just 63 rushing yards ultimately proved costly. Mason pulled away in the second half to secure the 43–24 victory.
