Welcome to Hackley Stadium in Michigan, where 10,000 fans will pack the stands for one of the state’s most tradition-rich showdowns between the Mona Shores Sailors and the Muskegon Big Reds. First played in 1965, this rivalry has defined Friday nights along the lakeshore for nearly six decades and will be featured in the 23rd season of the Great American Rivalry Series, celebrating over 100 of the nation’s greatest high school football matchups. 

Across 47 total meetings, Muskegon holds a commanding 38–9 series lead, fueled by decades of powerhouse teams and deep playoff runs. Last year, the Muskegon Big Reds defeated the Mona Shores Sailors under the lights at Sailor Stadium to claim the Great American Rivalry Series Trophy. The Big Reds also went on to defeat the Sailors in a high scoring affair playoff game last season. In the fall of 2024, the visiting Sailors shocked the Big Reds, with a 42-27 victory.  

Circle October 9th on your calendar as these two proud programs meet once again under the lights. Will this series continue to be a road warrior game, or can the Big Reds hold off the visiting Sailors under the lights of their historic Hackley Stadium?

Jayvon has been actively involved in National Honor Society while also taking on the academic challenge of being a dual-enrollment student. Outside of school, he regularly volunteers with Kids’ Food Basket and works at Glenside Pub. In addition to his academic achievements and involvement in the community, Jayvon is a proud member of the Muskegon Big Reds football, basketball, and track programs. His commitment to academics, athletics, and serving his community has made him a well-rounded student-athlete and a strong representative of Muskegon High School.

Andrew has been a hardworking and dedicated member of the Mona Shores athletic program. Throughout his high school career, he has demonstrated toughness, commitment, and a strong work ethic both on and off the field. He is known for being a great teammate and for setting a positive example for those around him. Andrew’s dedication and character have made him a role model for all Mona Shores student athletes.
