The 2026 Battle of the Bridge brought Mary Carroll and Gregory-Portland together for another chapter in their long-standing rivalry at Buccaneer Stadium on August 27. Both teams came into the matchup ready to set the tone for the season in front of a spirited crowd.
Gregory-Portland came out strong, building a 22-0 lead after the first quarter behind a pair of rushing touchdowns and a safety. The Wildcats continued to control the momentum in the second quarter, adding two more touchdowns to take a 36-0 advantage into halftime.
Mary Carroll continued to battle in the second half and found the scoreboard while working to slow the Wildcats’ offensive attack. Gregory-Portland maintained its offensive production throughout the remainder of the game, finishing with a 53-6 victory.
With another chapter now in the books, the Battle of the Bridge once again showcased the competition, tradition, and community pride that make this rivalry one of the most anticipated matchups of the season. Both programs will now turn their attention to the remainder of the 2026 season.
