Jesuit vs Holy Cross

As the Jesuit Bluejays gear up to face the Holy Cross Tigers at Tad Gormley Stadium on October 4th, anticipation is soaring for this year’s clash. This historic rivalry, starting in 1922, is a cornerstone of New Orleans high school football, drawing a massive crowd of 16,000 fervent fans annually. 

The all-time record for this series is 61-42-1, with Jesuit maintaining the historical edge. Last year, however, the Bluejays were outscored 72-0 across two games against the Tigers, once in the regular season and again in the playoffs. Jesuit, which had previously won each rivalry matchup since 2017, will look to correct course following last year’s disappointment and reclaim their dominance. Holy Cross is undoubtedly looking to continue their hot streak and turn the tides of this storied rivalry.

With the coveted “Golden Football” trophy on the line, both teams are set to leave it all on the field in this 105th meeting. This game is part of the 21st season of the Great American Rivalry Series which feature the top rivalries from all around the country.

Klein Oak vs Klein Collins

In a clash that defines greatness, Klein Collins and Klein Oak gear up for another chapter in their storied rivalry at ISD Memorial Stadium. As part of the 21st season of the Great American Rivalry Series, these powerhouse teams bring intensity to every yard gained and every point scored.  

With Klein Collins holding a 13-7 edge in the all-time series, the Tigers look to defend their turf against the Panthers in front of a roaring 7800-strong crowd. Last year, Klein Collins secured a hard-fought 20-10 victory over Klein Oak, adding fuel to the fire of this fiercely contested matchup. 

Both schools boast NFL talent in their ranks. From Klein Collins’ Demetri Goodson and Mike Goodson to current star Isiah Spiller. Klein Oak’s Calvin Branch and Ryan McCollum carry the torch for the Panthers. Expect nothing less than electrifying plays and unyielding competition under the Friday night lights.

Batavia vs Geneva

As the Batavia Bulldogs prepare to host the Geneva Vikings at Bulldog Stadium on October 4th, excitement is at an all-time high for the 100th edition of the Batavia/Geneva Game. This storied rivalry, dating back to 1912, is one of the oldest in America, drawing a crowd of 5,000 passionate fans each year. 

 With Geneva holding a narrow all-time series lead of 51-48, the Vikings aim to reclaim their dominance. However, Batavia has momentum, having won the last 14 matchups, including a thrilling 21-18 victory last year where Ryan Boe shined as MVP with both rushing and passing touchdowns. 

This season’s game is part of the 21st season of the Great American Rivalry Series, adding another layer of prestige to this historic showdown.

Mission Viejo vs Long Beach Poly

California

Welcome to Diablo Stadium, where the Long Beach Poly Jackrabbits will face the defending Division 1-A State Champion Mission Viejo Diablos. This California clash of powerhouse football programs is a highly anticipated matchup in the 21st season of the Great American Rivalry Series. 

The two teams met for the first time in 2004 and have since battled nine times leading up to their upcoming matchup. The Diablos hold a commanding 6-3 lead in the all-time series, but the Jackrabbits look to take one step closer to evening out the series. Last season was a step in the right direction for Long Beach Poly as they knocked off Mission Viejo in a thrilling 32-28 victory. 

Neither team is a stranger to success, with the two teams combining for a 23-5 record last season. These historic programs have also produced NFL talent, including quarterback Mark Sanchez from Mission Viejo. The Jackrabbits are also home to Super Bowl-winning receiver Juju Smith-Schuster and the electric three-time Pro-Bowler DeSean Jackson. 

Mark your calendars for October 4th, when 5,000 fans will be on the edge of their seats for what promises to be another thrilling matchup.

St. Augustine vs Cathedral Catholic

The “Holy Bowl” between Cathedral Catholic Dons and St. Augustine Saints at San Diego Mesa College stadium is set for October 4th. This annual rivalry dates back to 1966, originally known as the “Charity Bowl” before being renamed the “Holy Bowl” in 1974 due to increased attendance and profitability. This year marks their 60th matchup, with Cathedral Catholic leading the series 37-22 historically.

Anticipation is high with an expected attendance of 7,000 fans. St. Augustine, after last year’s 27-21 victory, aims to further improve their record against Cathedral Catholic in this upcoming clash. 

As part of the 21st season of the Great American Rivalry Series, this game promises to be a spirited and competitive affair, drawing fans from both sides to pack San Diego Mesa College Stadium.

Wrightstown vs Freedom

Welcome to Tiger Stadium, where the Irish of Freedom High School will travel to Wrightstown High School for a historic matchup that dates back to 1949. These two rivals have played 66 times, and it has been an extremely competitive series, with Freedom High School holding a narrow 35-31 lead in the all-time series. 

In their matchup last season, the Tigers of Wrightstown High School escaped with a one-point victory, 15-14, led by a touchdown and a two-point conversion in the fourth quarter to take the lead. Neither program is a stranger to success; the Tigers are three-time state champions, winning their last title back in 2011. Prior to last season, Freedom High School had won four straight games against Wrightstown and is looking to return to their winning ways against the Tigers. Freedom High School struggled last season, but prior to that, they had multiple double-digit win seasons.
