Coach Hughes spent 17 seasons coaching the Bulldogs including four years as an assistant from 1966-69 and 13 seasons as a head coach/AD from 1970-82. In the 13 years Coach Hughes spent as head coach, the Bulldogs went 107-34-2, winning back-to-back AAA state titles including a perfect season in 1973 and were named the National High School Champions in the 1974 season. He finished his career in 2000 after 17 years at Colquitt County with an overall record of 247-102-4, adding a state title in 1994. This is the fifth Hall of Fame that Coach Hughes has been inducted into.
