Leon Ashcraft

Leon “Bone” Ashcraft played in three games against Canton McKinley, two during his senior year. In the fabled 100th Game, Leon was instrumental in the Tigers 42-41 overtime win, where he rushed for 109 yards and scored two touchdowns. In the Regional Championship game that same year, “Bone” rushed for 128 yards, but it wasn’t enough as the Bulldogs ended the Tigers season with a 27-20 score. After high school, Leon joined the United States Marine Corps. At the age of 20, Pfc. Leon Ashcraft was tragically killed in a training accident at Camp Legeune, North Carolina, on July 3, 1996. Representing Leon today are his son, Savaun Ashcraft; his partner, Nicole McInnes and his mother, Thomasina Ashcraft-Longshore.
