Troy attended Valdosta and graduated in 1978. He was named Georgia defensive player of the year and was chosen for the North/South All Star game in 1979. After his time at Valdosta, he attended South Carolina, where he played in the Hall of Fame Bowl, the Gator Bowl, and Hula Bowl. When his playing days were over at South Carolina, he went on to play in the Canadian Football League. He would like to thank Coach Demps, Coach Baker, Coach Pitcock, Coach Waters, Coach Tarpley, and Coach Rudolph for helping him develop his skills which made him succeed on the football field and at life.
