David played in the Lakeland-Kathleen rivalry his sophomore through senior years. Kathleen won 2 out of 3 during David’s time as quarterback, including a 44-0 win his senior season. David set a national high school record for career touchdown passes with 92, which stood until Xavier Lee broke the record a few years ago. He went on to the University of Florida, where he was an All-Southeastern Conference football and baseball star.
