Fred played in the Destrehan-Hahnville rivalry all four years of his high school career. Fred had many memorable moments against Hahnville, but none more special than the exciting 28-27 come-from-behind victory during his junior year. In that game, Fred caught three second-half touchdown passes. The first was an electrifying 75-yard catch and run, the second an acrobatic 30-yard catch, and finally an 80-yard game-winner coming with less than two minutes to play in the game. Fred went on to play for Tulane before returning to coach and teach for a season at his high school Alma Mater.
