Aaron Rodgers and Geoff Swaim
Geoff Swaim, a 2011 alumnus of Pleasant Valley. He played TE and went on to play at the University of Texas. He was drafted by the Dallas Cowboys in the seventh round of the 2015 NFL Draft and is currently playing for the Cowboys.
On behalf of the students and staff of Pleasant Valley High School, and the Chico community, it is with great pleasure that we recognize the on and off the field accomplishments of Pleasant Valley High School Class of 2002 alum Aaron Rodgers. Aaron, the son of Ed and Darla Rodgers and brother to Luke and Jordan, began his distinguished post-secondary career at Butte College and continued it at Cal. Aaron was then drafted by the Green Bay Packers in 2005. He became the Packers’ starting quarterback in 2008 and led them to a victory in Super Bowl XLV after the 2010 NFL season and was named the Super Bowl MVP. He was named Associated Press Athlete of the Year in 2011, as well as being voted league MVP for the 2011 and 2014 NFL seasons. Rodgers has led the NFL three times in touchdown-to-interception ratio (2011, 2012, 2014), twice in passer rating (2011, 2012), touchdown passing percentage (2011, 2012) and lowest passing interception percentage (2009, 2014), and once in yards per attempt (2011). Aaron is the NFL’s all-time career leader in passer rating during the regular season with a rating of 106.4 and third all-time in the postseason with a rating of 101.0 (among passers with at least 1,500 and 150 pass attempts, respectively). He currently is the only quarterback to have a career passer rating of over 100.0 in the regular season as well as having the best touchdown-to-interception ratio in NFL history at 4.05 touchdowns per interception. He also holds the league’s lowest career passing interception percentage for quarterbacks during the regular season at 1.6 percent and the single-season passer rating record of 122.5.
In addition to all his on-field accomplishments, we all believe Aaron is more proud of his off-the-field influences. As a devout Christian, Aaron vows to do as Jesus would do and lead by example. He is is the co-creator and founder of ItsAaron with a mission of “creating awareness for organizations and people who are changing the world”. He is also a strong supporter of the Midwestern Athletes Against Childhood Cancer Fund, the RAISE Hope for Congo fund, and has contributed in excess of $100,000.00 in contributions to local sports teams.
Aaron is a Chico product with Chico roots and will always be celebrated as an example of how one person can confront adversity, face any doubters, and overcome any challenges. Aaron Rodgers is a leader.
