For nearly two decades, the Great American Rivalry Series has celebrated the die-hard fanslong-standing traditions, and unforgettable moments that encapsulate the magic of high school football. This year is bigger and better than ever as the Rivalry Series travels coast-to-coast to visit over ___ games across ___ states, including historic games such as Massillon vs McKinley and Male vs Manual, two rivalries dating back to the 1890s. #GARS

WEEK 1

August 21

St. Rita vs Providence Catholic (IL)

Welcome to Doyle Stadium, where the St. Rita Mustangs will host the traveling Providence Catholic Celtics of Providence Catholic High School. In a historic rivalry that has spanned decades, this Illinois matchup is one of over 100 featured games in the 23rd season of the Great American Rivalry Series. 

Currently, both programs have traded momentum over the years, with each side earning key victories in the series. Last season added another intense chapter, as the Mustangs and Celtics delivered a physical, hard-fought contest that went down to the wire. 

Both programs have enjoyed strong postseason success, with St. Rita and Providence Catholic each building championship traditions and producing memorable playoff runs. The rivalry has also featured numerous standout players who have gone on to compete at the collegiate level.

We Know Friday Nights 

Maryville vs Alcoa (TN)

Welcome to Shields Stadium, where the Maryville Red Rebels will host the traveling Alcoa Tornadoes. In a historic rivalry that began in 1928, this Tennessee matchup is one of over 100 featured games in the 23rd season of the Great American Rivalry Series. 

Currently, Maryville is in control of the series with a commanding 67-28-3 record over Alcoa. However, last season the Tornadoes were able to turn the tide with a thrilling 28-21 victory, sealing a hard-fought home win, their first over the Rebels on their own field since 2009. Both programs have enjoyed postseason success, with Alcoa winning 23 state championships and Maryville winning 17. Notable alumni that have played in this series include former Pro-Bowl Wide Receiver Randall Cobb (Packers) who played for Alcoa.

We Know Friday Nights 

 Kathleen vs Lakeland (FL)

Welcome to Johnny Johnson Stadium, where the Kathleen High School Red Devils will host the traveling Lakeland High School Dreadnaughts. In a historic Polk County rivalry, this Florida matchup is one of over 100 featured games in the 23rd season of the Great American Rivalry Series. 

Lakeland holds the all-time series lead over Kathleen and famously carried a 20-game winning streak in the rivalry that was snapped in November 2013, when the Red Devils earned a 24-3 victory to capture the Class 7A, District 5 title. In recent years, the Dreadnaughts have largely controlled the matchup, including a 44-6 win in October 2025 at Bryant Stadium and a 37-0 victory in 2023. 

Both programs have enjoyed strong postseason success, with Lakeland's championship tradition and Kathleen's continued rise adding even more weight to each annual showdown. This rivalry remains one of the most anticipated games on both schedules.
