Jay played in the Graham-Beaver rivalry for 4 years. As one of the senior captains of the 1993 team, Jay led the G-Men to a 24-14 victory over the Beavers. That ’93 Graham team went on to win the Region IV championship. In the Bluefield game, Jay led the G-Men back from a 14-0 deficit and connected with Mike Gregory for the game winning touchdown with 8 seconds remaining in the game. Jay went on to play basketball at Bluefield State College where he earned all-WVIAC honors as a jr and sr. Upon graduating from BSC, Jay began teaching and coaching for Tazewell County Schools before relocating to Charlotte, NC where he obtained a Master’s Degree in Educational Management and School Administration. He is currently working as the new Athletic Director for Phillip O. Berry Academy of Technology in Charlotte.
