Ernest played in the 1984, 85 and 86 Lower Merion/Radnor rivalry. Lower Merion won each of those games. During the 1985 game, Earnest rushed 135 yards in helping Lower Merion to a 14-0 win. In his senior year, Earnest again had a big rushing game and this time it was for 3 touchdowns in a 42-0 Lower Merion win. Earnest still holds the school rushing record of 3,714yards and most yards in a season with 01,687. After high school, Ernest attended Carolina University on a football scholarship. His freshman year he was one of only two freshmen to make the traveling squad. This year Ernest was inducted into the Lower Merion Football Hall of Fame. Representing the first player from the 1980’s to be inducted. His son Ernest Jr. is now a senior this year on the Lower Merion team.
