Ammon played in the 2008 Alta and Bingham faced each other again for the 5A State Championship. Alta was down 17-6 with only 12 minutes left in the game. Ammon led a 80-yard drive for a touchdown pass and 2-point conversation. Then, following a 40-yard pass to Parker Webster, Ammon ran in the winning touchdown with only seconds left remaining on the clock. Ammon was named 5A Most Valuable Player, Utah Gatorade Player of the Year and Top Inductee into the National Football Foundation and College Hall of Fame.
