Daniel Boone (TN)

Rick played in three Daniel Boone/David Crockett rivalry games. In 1976 as a sophomore, Rick scored his first TD vs. Crockett in a Daniel Boone victory. In 1977 Rick scored two TD’s and was selected WJCW Player of the Game, again in a Daniel Boone victory. In 1978, he had his best game of the series, rushing for 144 yards on 12 carries and scoring a TD. After graduation, Rick received a baseball scholarship to East Tennessee State University where he majored in Physical Education. He went to Tusculum College to get his Master’s in Education in 1994.

He has taught in Washington County for 31 years and has served as assistant baseball coach, assistant football coach, head baseball coach and, most recently, head softball coach here at Daniel Boone. His 2010 softball team became the first triple-A high school team to reach the TSSAA state tournament. In 2012, they returned to the TSSAA state tournament and finished runner-up with a record of 50-6.
