An hour and a half before kickoff, the streets of Higbie Lane and Udall road were closed and packed with fans as the community lined up to watch the mile long Homecoming Parade. The band, football players, cheerleaders, floats, Police, fire trucks and the Marines all participated in the festivities. The fans then packed the stands for the homecoming game between West Islip and North Babylon. West Islip won the toss and deferred to defend first. The West Islip Lions enter the game with a 5-0 record and the North Babylon Bulldogs enter 3-2, as both of these teams always battle it out again for the state champions.

GAME SUMMARY

The first quarter ended with the Lions in the lead 7-0. The 2nd quarter opened up with a North Babylon touchdown to bring the Bulldogs within 1, 7-6. The Lions scored again while the Bulldogs fumbled the next possession and then gave up a punt return for a touchdown to go down 22-6. With just :10 on the clock in the 2nd quarter, West Islip scored again to take a 29-7 lead into halftime. West Islip opened the 2nd half with a touchdown to increase their lead to 36-6. Late in the 3rd, the Bulldogs find the end zone and convert on the 2-point conversion to bring the score to 36-14. The Bulldogs added another touchdown in the 3rd to come within 15, 36-21, but it would not get any close. West Islip scored again in the 4th to close out the game.
