For those present, many of whom reside in and around Des Moines, Iowa, it was a long-awaited Rivalry game where Dowling Catholic was looking for some redemption after last years upset where Valley claimed victory. In addition the game was being played in Drake Stadium, which only occurs every two years! To add to Dowling’s motivation, this was their homecoming game. “It’s the most exciting game of the year, every year,” says Valley senior guard John Raridon.
