The “Winnersville Classic” was certainly a classic. In the lowest-scoring game in series history, the Lowndes Vikings edged the Valdosta Wildcats 3-0 on Friday night in front of over 13,000 fans at Martin Stadium. The previous lowest-scoring game in the series was a Lowndes’ 6-0 win in 1980.

GAME SUMMARY

Nick Hart provided the only points of the game, hitting a 27-yard field goal in the first quarter. With offense few and far between, defensive lineman Zack Copeland was named the Great American Rivalry Series Most Valuable Player after recording nine tackles. Quarterback Seth Shuman threw for 168 yards for the Wildcats, who missed two field goals and had another blocked. The Vikings have won two straight in the series but still trail 34-18 overall.
