The Texas City Stingarees easily beat the La Marque Cougars 56-35 on Friday night in the annual “Battle of the Bay’ in front of more than 7,400 fans at La Marque High School’s Etheredge Stadium. The game between two undefeated teams marked the Rivalry Series first trip to this area. The annual battle dates back to 1959 and is played annually in the first weeks of the season and billed as the biggest rivalry in Southeastern Texas with La Marque holding a 33-19-3 margin and both teams ranked in the Top 10 in their respective classes across the State of Texas.

GAME SUMMARY

The game on Friday night was dominated from start to finish by the Stingaree’s Senior Tailback and University of Texas recruit D’Onta Foreman. Foreman, the Great American Rivalry Series Most Valuable Player, ran for over 200 yards and scored five touchdowns in the game.
