“The Battle of the Prairies” as students called it, truly was a battle on Friday night. Between hard hits, diving catches, and a broken record, it was one that both sides won’t forget. Leading up to the game, all the talk was on number 21 of East, Brady Kaufman. Kaufman, a senior running back, needed 101 yards to break the rushing yard school record and he did not disappoint. Finishing with 238 rushing yards and 3 touchdowns, it was special to watch. As the game began, it was a defensive battle as both teams were forced to punt on their opening possessions. From then on however, it was all East for the remainder of the half, as they scored on their next three possessions, taking a 16-0 lead. West refused to give up, responding immediately with a 80 yard touchdown pass. One more score is all they would manage, as East defense came to play as well. Overall, the Cardinals dominated the Wolves on both sides of the ball, resulting in a 37-13 victory and their fourth straight win against West.
