This 87 year-old rivalry game began in 1924. The series has favored the Caravan from Mount Carmel as they lead the series 57-27-2; but this year it was not to be. The home school of Donavan McNabb did not have the muscle to fight off the powerful surge of St. Rita Mustangs and their unstoppable running back, Jahwon Akui.

GAME SUMMARY

The Mt Carmel Caravan had one early opportunity when they scored to make it 26-18, but a kickoff return for a touchdown seemed to seal the deal as Mt. Carmel never recovered. The #2 ranked Mustangs went on to win 54-18 proving they are a dominant force in the powerful Chicago Catholic league. The Mustangs have scored at least 34 points in every game this season and are becoming one of the top contenders for a state title. St. Rita also won the game last year, and with this win becomes the first consecutive wins for either team since the mid 1980's - thus proving what a great city, state, and national rivalry this game has become.
