Two top ten power houses meet in this rivalry game. Last season, No. 1 Bergen Catholic overcame an early 10-0 deficient to defeat No. 7 St. Joseph. These two schools are perennially two of the top teams in the state and always pack the stands for a competitive game. Alex is a tremendous student/athlete. While maintaining a near perfect GPA, he is also a Varsity Lacrosse and Varsity Football player. He is vice president of the student council, a member of the National Honors Society, Spanish Honors Society, Unico member, and Knights Ambassador. Alex is the ultimate selfless teammate always putting the team first. Alex is undecided now for college but is looking forward to majoring in finance.
Christian Carti

Christian is a 3-year starting Wide Receiver for Bergen Catholic, and he was named one of the captains of this year’s team. He is in the National Honor Society and Mandarin Honor Society and has maintained Principal’s List throughout his high school academic career. Christian was selected as one of the few Honors Research Seniors who will intern with an Orthopedic Surgeon at Holy Name Hospital this year. During the off-season, Christian focuses on volunteerism with Dream Team Baseball and All-Star Basketball – both Programs focus on assisting special needs youth to young adults with learning the basics and enjoying playing the games of baseball and basketball. Christian has committed to play football for Columbia University.

GAME SUMMARY

Bergen Catholic took an early lead forcing a punt and driving the field. 7-0 Bergen Catholic with 5 minutes left in the 1st quarter. After a fumble on the punt return, the Crusaders punched in the touchdown with the short field. 14-0 Bergen Catholic at the end of 1st quarter. The Green Knights responded with an absolute an explosive 57-yard pass putting them on the board 14-7. With just under 10 minutes left in the half, Bergen responds with a passing touchdown to extend their lead 21-7. After a Green Knights punt, the Crusaders stuck to their recipe by feeding #7, their outside receiver who had two huge catches on the drive. A screen pass to scholar athlete Christian Carti puts another 7 on the board before half. 31-7 Crusaders with just over a minute remaining before half. The Knights put up another TD with 48 seconds left in the 2nd sending the game into halftime 31-14. Another TD from the Knights with 8 left in the 4th closes sent the game into final 31-21.
