Within the Monsignor Martin Association of Buffalo, NY lies the fierce and historic rivalry of Canisius Preparatory High School and St. Joseph High School. On the 85th meeting between these teams, Time Warner Cable Sports Channel broadcasted the gridiron game, present by the Marines, live on television and the web. The Great American Rivalry Series was onsite with great presence for what many locals say is easily the biggest game in West New York. St. Joe holds the record for wins in the series and nearly 6,000 spectators come to watch the rivals battle it out.

Canisius High School

Samuel is a member of the National Honor Society. He has received First Honors throughout his high school career. He is the captain of the Canisius Rugby team and also a member of the New Orleans service immersion trip.
Sam Kline

St. Joseph's Collegiate Institute

Sam is a St Joe football captain. He is a Member of National Honor Society, as well as, a scholarship recipient. He has achieved High Honor Roll throughout all four years of high school and was first-team all Monseigneur Martin in 2018. He is currently still involved in Boy Scouts and commits his time to mission work and volunteering in his hometown community of Newfane, NY.

GAME SUMMARY

St. Joe's fell behind 21-7 after the end of two quarters, but was able to scored 25 unanswered points in the second half to win 32-21, snapping a 10-game losing streak to Canisius. Marauders' junior quaterback Cam Wither finished with 215 yards passing and three touchdowns to claim MVP of the game. St. Joe's scholar athlete Sam Kline finished with six receptions for 107 yards.
