“The Battle of Arroyo” returns this fall between San Benito and Harlingen. One of the most competitive rivalries in the state of Texas, this game always draws a large crowd. Harlingen is currently on a three-game win streak in the series and looks to continue their streak when the host San Benito this fall.

Anthony has been a member of the Top 10% in his class for the past 3 years. He is a member of the National Honor Society and Cardinal Football Team. Following high school, Anthony plans to attend Texas A&M University.
Mariano Garcia
San Benito
Mariano is part of the Early College Academy and will graduate HS with over 40 college credits. He is also in the SBHS National Honor Society and National History Honor Society. Mariano is a 3 year football lettermen, All State Honorable Mention. Also participates in Basketball and Track & Field. He plans to attend Rice University or University of Texas - Austin, where he will pursue a degree in Computer Science and then apply for Law School.
GAME SUMMARY
An explosive TD run from Harlingen’s QB #5 put the Cardinals up early 7-0. #9 from the home team secured a TD and the Cards followed up with another touchdown to put them up 17-0. San Benito answered with a score to bring the tally to 17-7. The Greyhounds’ #1 cut the lead down to 17-14 early in the 2nd half. A crucial TD by San Benito reverses the deficit 21-17. Harlingen regained their lead in the 4th quarter with a TD from #9 plus a FG bringing the score to 31-21. The #9 Cardinal scored another touchdown on the ground to secure the victory in the ”Battle of the Arroyo” with a final score of 37-21.
