Ranked in the Top 6 Rivalries in Georgia, the Milton vs. Roswell game always proves to be a nail biter and this year was no exception. The start of the game was signaled with a fly over by two aircraft – all in attendance cheered. Milton entered the game quite confident, having just beat the #1 team in Georgia (Norcross) two weeks prior. Their JV team also won sizably over Roswell’s JV team the day before this game. Roswell, however, came to show Milton that their confidence and, some would say, cockiness, would soon end as they defeated the Milton Eagles 33-31.

GAME SUMMARY

The first quarter was full of mostly defensive plays with both teams penetrating the backfield to gives losses to the opposing offenses. Milton would score first with a field goal and then touchdown making it 10-0 in the first quarter. The second quarter was filled with penalties and turnovers by Milton, however, with the first half ending with a score of 17-14, Milton leading. Sgt Gosnell, the Marine Recruiter for both schools went into the Milton locker room, as he trains with them in the weight room, and gave them a pep talk, encouraging them to stop with the penalties and turnovers. The second half was a back and forth scoring battle with only a few points separating the victor at any given time. In the end, Roswell would pull off a win of 33-31, divesting the Milton Eagles who had been certain they would win.
