GAME SUMMARY
The annual “Battle On The Miami” in Piqua, Ohio, was an intense showdown between the Piqua Indians and the Troy Trojans. In the 21st season of the Great American Rivalry Series, the two teams faced off for the 140th time at Alexander Stadium under rainy and windy conditions. Due to the weather, both teams looked to establish their run game early. Troy got on the board first with a QB sneak by eventual game MVP, Aiden Kirkpatrick. Piqua returned the favor immediately by running in one of their own and ended the first quarter tied, 7-7. The next two quarters saw both defenses force the run games to struggle. With the wind affecting both teams' quarterbacks' ability to throw, the 7-7 tie stood until the last play of the third quarter. Troy closed the quarter by running in another touchdown to take a 14-7 lead into the 4th. With their back against the ropes, the Indians strung together a few long drives but could not find the endzone for the rest of the game. The Trojans were able to score once more to defeat the Indians 21-7 in another great edition of this historic rivalry.
