GAME SUMMARY

After Page went up 14-0 behind Leake and Jones, Grimsley got on the scoreboard with an 80-yard touchdown pass from Garrett Hudnell to Nile Harris streaking down the left sideline. Hudnell took a big hit on the play to deliver the ball as the Whirlies cut their deficit in half with 9:50 left in the second quarter. But Page broke open the game with three touchdowns in a span of 2 minutes, 41 seconds late in the quarter and led 35-7 at halftime. Grimsley responded by scoring 1:17 into the third quarter on a 20-yard run by Hudnell. But after stopping Page on the next series, the Whirlies handed the ball back when Brelin Faison-Walden muffed a punt at his 7-yard line. Leake went 7 yards for a touchdown on the next play, and Jones ran 3 yards for a score just 2:40 later as the Pirates went up 49-14. This score would hold up as the Pirates defeated the Whirlies in dominant fashion.
