From the opening tip, the intensity was undeniable. The gym was loud, the pace was relentless, and neither side was willing to give an inch. It was a back-and-forth battle the entire night, with momentum constantly shifting. South carried a slight lead into halftime, fueled largely by the steady play of Brad Leisinger, who kept the Rebels within striking distance all game long with big shots and timely plays whenever North threatened to pull away. But the fourth quarter, especially the final  minute, was pure chaos. With less than 30 seconds remaining, North drilled a clutch three-pointer to take a one-point lead, sending their crowd into a frenzy. On the ensuing possession, South turned the ball over, giving North a golden opportunity to create separation. North went to the line but missed the second of two free throws, keeping the game within reach. After a rebound scramble and another trip to the stripe, North split a pair again, extending the lead to three and giving South one last chance to force overtime. South’s last-second attempt hit the rim, rolled around, and bounced out as the buzzer sounded, sealing an emotional 80-77 victory for North. Leading the way was Brayden Cespedes, who delivered a historic performance. Cespedes poured in 41 points, tying the single-game scoring record in rivalry history, and earned MVP honors for his effort. Time and time again, he answered every South run with a bucket of his own, refusing to let North fall behind when it mattered most. If there was ever any doubt about how much these two programs dislike each other, this game erased it. Every possession was physical. Every whistle sparked emotion. Every basket felt personal. In a rivalry that never disappoints, this one might go down as an instant classic.
