In 1991 playing Nantucket on Martha’s Vineyard, both teams for 10-1, had the Island Cup up for grabs, a mayflower League Championship and a Super Bowl berth on the line. Jason led his team to a 14-6 victory while throwing 2 touchdown passes. The Vineyard would go on to win its first Super Bowl Championship. In 1992, now a Captain in his senior year, the Vineyard traveled to Nantucket with both teams once again: 9-1, the Island Cup up for grabs, a Mayflower League Championship and a Super Bowl berth at stake. Trailing 12-0 with 4:46 left in the fourth quarter, Jason orchestrated a 14-12 come from behind victor, the first Vineyard victory on Nantucket in 20 years. Jason threw 2 touchdown passes in the comeback. This victory propelled the Vineyard into the playoffs and led to their second Super Bowl win. Jason continued playing football in college, attending Fitchburg State College, where he set school and league passing records. Jason currently works on Martha’s Vineyard and is in his second year as an Assistant Varsity football coach.

GAME SUMMARY

Coming into the game, both teams had 7-3 seasons. They play in different leagues, but Martha's Vineyard did not let that distract them from the fact that they were there for the coveted Island Cup. In the end, however, it was the Martha's Vineyard team who "kept the cup" and took the win with a final score of 33-25.
