This Southside Chicago game has been a tradition since 1924. The two all-boy catholic schools, Saint Rita and Mount Carmel, have laced up their football cleats for their 92nd year. Today, the teams are just as competitive and the crowd just as loud. With Mount Carmel having 12 State Titles, and St. Rita two State Championships, the energy is always high when walking into the stadium before kick-off. This evening, with absolutely perfect weather, made a great setting for the team and fans to enjoy a night of football at Gately Stadium.

Saint Rita had great start as the Caravans fumbled the ball on the first play from scrimmage. Senior AJ Jones of Saint Rita recovered the ball for a touchdown. Mount Carmel answered with a quick drive tying the game 7-7. Mt. Carmel connected on a 17 yard run and went in a halftime with a 14-7 lead. In a back and forth game that had several lead changes, Saint Rita defeated Mount Carmel 31-28 on the final play with a field goal in a classic game at Gately Stadium
