The 91st meeting of these two Catholic, Boys high schools proved to be as exciting as everyone anticipated. Going into the game, Mt. Carmel was ranked #1 and St. Rita #10 so Mt. Carmel was favored to win. St. Rita, however, was extremely energetic and played a tough game.

GAME SUMMARY

Mt. Carmel’s offense was incredible from the start of the game, with an almost immediate march down the field for a touchdown in the first quarter. Another touchdown in the second quarter made it 14-0 going into the half. In the second half, St. Rita put three points on the board with a field goal but it was Mt. Carmel’s interceptions and long running drives that made the difference. Mt. Carmel defeated St. Rita 24-3. The MVP of the game, Matt Domer rushed for 161 yards and had three touchdowns on 14 carries.
