The 2025 edition of “The Game” was a hard fought battle between Canton McKinley and Massillon Washington. Massillon started to dominate early, as they took a quick 14-0 lead in the first quarter, thanks to a pair of Savior Owens rushing touchdowns. But soon after, McKinley began to rally back. They tied the game just before half with a pair of their own rushing touchdowns. These two quick scores by the Bulldogs had began to get their crowd back in the game. With a home field advantage unlike any other in high school football, they went to the half tied at 14. The game quickly turned into a defensive battle in the 2nd half. McKinley was only able to muster 26 offensive yards, and Massillon went scoreless as well on offense. With just 5 minutes left in the game punt returner, Deontay Malone took a McKinley punt 50 yards into the endzone, and ended up being the game winning touchdown for the Tigers. Once McKinley got the ball back, they threw an interception that all but ended the game, and Massillon was able to assume victory formation. With a 21-14 victory over McKinley, Massillon retains “The Bell” and improves their all time record to 78-53 in the series.
