He is a member of the National Honor Society and a Maryville Scholar. He plans to attend the University of North Carolina.

Alcoa

Shannon Mitchell was a four-year letterman at Alcoa from 1985-1989 then played four years of SEC Football at the University of Georgia. Following his collegiate career, Shannon played four years in the NFL for the San Diego Chargers, competing in Super Bowl 29 against the San Francisco 49ers.
Aaron Douglas

Maryville

Aaron Douglas played in the Alcoa-Maryville game in 2005, 2006, and 2007. During the years Aaron played, Maryville never lost a game and won the 4A State Championship each year. His career at Maryville was marked by highlight catches and overpowering blocks. After leaving Maryville, Aaron went on to star at the University of Tennessee where he was a Freshman All-American. He eventually transferred to Arizona Western and then to the University of Alabama. Aaron died tragically this past May.

GAME SUMMARY

The game was competitive throughout. Alcoa struggled to gain any offensive momentum. Maryville prevailed 26-19 in a well played game.
