The Longview Lobos & Marshall Mavericks bring another exciting and historic state of Texas high school football rivalry game on September 2nd, 2022. Most know, but for those that don’t this football rivalry has spanned over 100 years, which makes it so historic. In recent years the Longview Lobos have successfully kept a winning streak against the Marshall Mavericks since the Fall of the 2016-2017 season. Will the Longview Lobos be able to keep the streak going or will the Mavericks be able to recover this year?

Martin Guerrero is a three-year varsity lettermen and returning starter in the offensive line for the Lobos. Martin currently holds a 4.32 GPA and is ranked 24th in his senior class while participating in the IB program at Longview HS. In addition to playing football, he is also a member of the National Honor Society, the Math-Science club and dedicates his time to several community service projects in Longview.

JaKaylon has excelled on the field, but his biggest accomplishments come in the classroom. He boasts a 4.1 GPA and has exceeded every goal that he has set for himself, while remaining both respectful and humble in his home life, athletic life, and student life. His future plans are to study Biomedical engineering, and for JaKaylon, the sky is the limit!
GAME SUMMARY
Early in the game, Marshall scored a field goal, with the early 3-0 lead. Two touchdowns by #2 gave Longview a 17-3 lead with just over nine minutes left in the first half. After a big catch by #11 from Longview and a 3rd touchdown by #2 the Lobos extend their lead to 31-3 at halftime. A long TD run by Longview brings the score to 38-11. A field goal with 9 minutes left in the game. A rushing touchdown by the Lobos with only 1.5 minutes left in the game brought the final score to 48-11 Longview.
