The second oldest rivalry in Washington state, Kent Meridian vs Auburn is always hotly contested and highly anticipated. Fans from both teams are so into the game, they do not cross the line between the two sets of fans within the stadium. Meridian fans are on one side, Auburn fans on the other side of the field.

First played in 1908, Kent Meridian and Auburn now play for the Taylor Trophy. Although the two teams now compete in different classes, the two teams are truly dedicated to the rivalry and schedule it each year. The 2018 version is shaping up to be a fascinating matchup.

Kyle Wilkins

Auburn

Kyle is a 3-year letterman in Track & Field, and a receiver and defensive back for the Trojan Football team this year. With a 3.822 GPA, Kyle has the highest GPA of our senior football team. He will be applying to UW and hopes to pursue a degree in accounting. You can also find Kyle at all of our school events, supporting his fellow Trojan athletes and cheering as part of the PIT! Eli Pham

Kent Meridian

Eli is a 4-year member of the Royals football program. He has played as an offensive and defensive lineman for 3 of those years on the varsity team. Eli’s cumulative GPA is 3.905. He also competed on the track team his 9th and 10th grade years. He is a running start student currently pursuing his AA degree at Highline Community College. After high school, he is planning to continue his education at the university level.

Gordy Elliot

Auburn

Prior to this year Gordon had been the head coach at Auburn High School for the last 16 years. During that time, Gordy has led the Trojans to numerous winning seasons and playoff appearances, highlighted by two trips to the semi-finals. Often referred to as "Dad" by his players, Elliott has done a phenomenal job building relationships and supports not only his players, but his students as well. Elliott is a member of the Washington State Coaches Association Hall of Fame. While he "retired" last year from head coaching, Elliott plans on continuing his coaching career as an assistant, this year serving as defensive coordinator for his son-in-law, current Auburn Head Coach Aaron Chantler.
Brett Allen

Kent Meridian

Brett was the Head football coach for KM during the years of 2010 – 2016. During this time, he broke the 15-year win streak of the Trojans by defeating Auburn in an exciting overtime game in 2014. Then followed up with another win in 2015. His belief in the KM Royals allowed them to believe in themselves and never give up the fight to win. He is still teaching at KM and influencing the lives of students through his involvement in our school

GAME SUMMARY

An offensive showdown in Washington commenced on Friday night, as Auburn knocked off bitter rival Kent Meridian 43-34. MVP Calvin Liulamanga led the way for the Trojans on their way to a victory they won't soon forget.
