As the Jesuit Bluejays gear up to face the Holy Cross Tigers at Tad Gormley Stadium on October 4th, anticipation is soaring for this year’s clash. This historic rivalry, starting in 1922, is a cornerstone of New Orleans high school football, drawing a massive crowd of 16,000 fervent fans annually.
The all-time record for this series is 61-42-1, with Jesuit maintaining the historical edge. Last year, however, the Bluejays were outscored 72-0 across two games against the Tigers, once in the regular season and again in the playoffs. Jesuit, which had previously won each rivalry matchup since 2017, will look to correct course following last year’s disappointment and reclaim their dominance. Holy Cross is undoubtedly looking to continue their hot streak and turn the tides of this storied rivalry.
With the coveted “Golden Football” trophy on the line, both teams are set to leave it all on the field in this 105th meeting. This game is part of the 21st season of the Great American Rivalry Series which feature the top rivalries from all around the country.

GAME SUMMARY
In an always highly anticipated match up, the Jesuit Bluejays and the Holy Cross Tigers left it all on a rain dampened field at Tad Gormley Stadium. The first half was a defensive struggle with both teams showing a bend but not break strategy. The Tigers got on the board first with a strong read option run game and the Bluejays had their chances including a goal-to-go opportunity at the end of the 2nd quarter. Holy Cross’ defense and an errant snap denied Jesuit the points they were looking for and the Tigers took a 7-0 lead into the locker room. Holy Cross would get the ball first in the 2nd half and orchestrated a solid drive that ended in pay dirt on the ground as eventually game MVP, Kayden Androh, punched it into the endzone to give the Tigers a 14-0 lead midway through the 3rd quarter. Jesuit never gave up and with just under 6 minutes to go in the game, found the endzone through the air to make it a one score game. With time winding down, the Bluejays defense got the ball back for their offense but an INT that resulted in a long return Pick 6 sealed the deal for the Tigers. Holy Cross kept the “Golden Football” trophy and bragging rights for another year with a 21-7 victory.
