The 2025 edition of the Holy Cross and Jesuit matchup was one for the books in this storied rivalry. After winning the coin toss and choosing to defer, Jesuit forced a quick punt. Once they got the ball, they scored on a methodical 8 play drive to go up 7-0 early in the first quarter. Holy Cross would answer with a touchdown of their own. The Holy Cross defense stepped up their game, allowing only one field goal from Jesuit for the rest of the half but their offense could not put up any more points resulting in a 10-6 lead for Jesuit going into halftime. Following a Jesuit blocked Holy Cross punt to start the 3rd quarter, GARS MVP quarterback Sully Sullivan ran in his 2nd touchdown to give Jesuit a 17-6 lead. Holy Cross was not deterred and drove down to score their 2nd touchdown but failed the 2-point conversion attempt leaving Jesuit with a 17-12 lead. Holy Cross drove deep but a huge INT denied their attempt to take their first lead. The 4th quarter was owned by a time killing drive that resulted in a Jesuit field goal. Holy Cross had one final attempt to even the score but turned the ball over on downs as the Blue Jay defense ruined the comeback attempt with a couple big plays including a sack and a big tackle after a completion one yard short of the line to make. The Blue Jays were able to kneel the clock out and celebrated their victory by reclaiming the “Golden Football” 20-12.
