This year’s “Battle on the River,” the 65th meeting of the two St. Charles Parish teams, dating back to 1946, proved once again that this is the best rivalry in the area. It certainly is the game that has the attention of St. Charles Parish this week. It’s East Bank vs. West Bank, Wildcat vs. Tiger.

GAME SUMMARY

The game got off to an exciting start when quickly in the 1st quarter, Destrehan scored the first touchdown. Hahnville wasn’t able to make anything happen and Destrehan took the ball back to score again, going into the half 14-0. The second half was a nail-biter when Hahnville scored back to back touchdowns. Destrehan gets a touchdown early in the third, making the score 21-14. The fourth quarter was unbelievable when Hahnville gets a touchdown but cannot get the extra point. Destrehan turns around and goes in for a 51 yard touchdown. The score is 28-20 Destrehan when Hahnville scores again and gets the 2 point conversion, taking the score to 28-28 with only minutes left in the game. Destrehan attempts a field goal only to have it deflected and Hahnville once again takes over the ball. Destrehan fights back and with 8 seconds to go, makes a field goal and wins the game 31-28.
