The intensely competitive rivalry game between DeMatha and Good Counsel saw DeMatha’s stout defense shutting out the Falcons in a 21-0 final. The Stags came out particularly determined after losing twice to Good Counsel last season, including in the WCAC Championship

DeMatha senior wide receiver and defensive back Cameron Phillips was named the Great American Rivalry Series “Most Valuable Player”. DeMatha held a narrow 7-0 lead in the third quarter until Phillips intercepted Sophomore QB Andres Castillo’s pass and returned it 95 yards for a touchdown. DeMatha Senior QB John Lovett threw for 140 yards and 2 touchdowns, while Senior Running Back Taiwan Deal rushed for 129 yards a touchdown.
