One of the oldest and most heated rivalry game in the state of South Carolina between Byrnes and Gaffney certainly lived up. Byrnes and Gaffney have combined for 28 state titles with Gaffney winning in 2012 (34-22 over Dutch Fork) and Byrnes winning in 2011 (over Gaffney) and 2010. The two have combined for 10 of the last 14 4A state titles

Using a huge second half, the Byrnes Rebels cruised to a 61-20 win over the Gaffney Indians at Nixon Field. The Rebels, ranked second in the state and high nationally, outscored the Indians 36-7 in the second half for its first regular-season win in the series since 2009. They've scored over 50 points six times this season. Isaiah ran for 105 yards and three TDs and was named the Great American Rivalry Series Most Valuable Player. He had TD runs of 2, 22 and 1 yard and he also got a 46-yard screen pass from Shuler Bentley for another score. Bentley finished with 352 yards and five TDs.
