The Fountain Valley vs. Edison football game has a very rich history. The first game between Fountain Valley and Edison was held in 1969 at Huntington Beach High School. The game eventually moved to Orange Coast Community College in order to accommodate larger crowds. The “Battle for the Bell” originated when the activities directors from both schools found an old, rusty train bell from an antique store in the 1970’s. Shop classes from both schools worked to get the bell into mint condition. The bell has been won by Edison every year since 2004. The overall record of this huge match-up is 29 wins for Edison, 14 wins for Fountain Valley, and 1 game ending in a tie.

GAME SUMMARY

Edison was the heavy favorite going into this match-up but the underdogs from Fountain Valley were the first on the board. The rain made for a wet environment so the game was very run heavy. The ground and pound match-up favored Edison and they rolled through the second half. Behind a huge 4th quarter Edison ended up winning 33-15.
