It was a breezy but sunny day in West Islip, New York. The cross town rivalry was important to both teams. East Islip had to win in order to maintain the top seed in the District and West was trying to earn a spot in the playoffs.

West Islip’s recipient is senior Mike Sagl, son of Jim Sagl and Lyn Sagl. Mike is a two-year starter for offense and defense and was selected as one of this year’s captains because of his great commitment and leadership qualities. He plans to attend Quinnipac University next fall.
Dylan Huchinson

East Islip

East Islip’s scholarship recipient is senior Dylan Hutchinson, son of Robert and Virginia Hutchinson. Dylan has been nominated for Breakfast of Champions, which highlights academic achievement in chemistry and technology. He is also involved in theatre arts and volunteers as a math tutor and in food drives.

GAME SUMMARY

The first quarter was East showcasing why they were state champion contenders. With a decisive 14-0 lead at the half, West had to find a way to make this any kind of a game, but as the game went on East was just too strong.
