Revenge was on the minds of the Maroons of Dowling Catholic as the Tigers of Valley High School beat Dowling Catholic two (2) times during the 2008 season – once during the regular season and once during the post-season. This rivalry started in 1968 and the Tigers of Dowling High School hold a 34-24 lead in the series overall record. The game was played on the campus of Drake University at the 14,000 seat Drake Stadium and it was nearly filled to capacity with over 11,000 in attendance.

Hayden Kvamme

Valley High

Hayden Kvamme is a senior wide receiver for the Valley Tigers and carries a 4.1 GPA. He is very active in all student activities, participating in football, baseball, and the school Vocal Music Program. He is also a member of the Valley High School Honors Program, the National Honor Society, and the Valley High School Principals Advisory Council. Hayden is the son of David and Sandra Kvamme.
Grant Reisberg

Dowling Catholic

Grant Riesberg is a senior defensive end for the Dowling Catholic Maroons and carries a 4.23 GPA. He is a person of great character and is a leader on and off the field. He has received all conference honors in football and wrestling. Grant is the son of Brian and Kristine Riesberg.

GAME SUMMARY

From opening kickoff to the final whistle, the night belonged to the home team of Dowling Catholic. The Maroons set the tone for the evening by scoring a 53-yard rushing touchdown by quarterback, Michael Hudson, on the second play of the night. Valley responded in the first quarter with an 8-yard pass from quarterback Nelson to wide receiver Looney; however, that would be the last time the Tigers of Valley would get on the scoreboard until late in the fourth quarter on another Nelson touchdown pass, this time a 4-yard pass to wide receiver Ellington. Eventual Great American Rivalry Series MVP, Michael Hudson, quarterback for Dowling Catholic High School, threw for three (3) touchdowns and ran for another one to lead the number 5 ranked Maroons over the number 4 ranked Tigers 44 - 14.
