For those present, many of whom reside in and around Bisbee, Arizona, it was a long-awaited collision course of seemingly Homeric proportions, as the Pumas football team of Bisbee High School faced off against their Douglas High School counterparts, the Bulldogs, at Warren Ballpark, on the evening of Friday, August 28th, 2015, in a rivalry that began in 1906.

Danny has been a 4 year Letterman for the Bisbee Pumas. Danny has contributed each of his four years on varsity. A captain on this years football team, Danny is an outstanding student and leader. He is expected to have a huge impact on the puma defense.

Andres has been a 3 year letterman on the varsity football team. He was named an all-section long snapper as a junior.

Josue Miranda

Bisbee

A four year starter and 3 time all conference selection; Josue came into his senior year considered the centerpiece of the offensive line. At 6-2 285, Josue not only led the Pumas as a critical part of their 2010 win against Douglas (14-8), but he also got on the radar of many College programs. Josue is currently a starting Offensive lineman for D-I Southeastern Louisiana University as they look to improve on last season’s 9-4 record.
Tony Rose

Douglas

Margeret Baldenegro accepts the award for Tony Rose. He was the MVP of the Douglas/Bisbee game in 1974 in which Douglas beat Bisbee 29-0. Tony was a sophomore quarterback and went on to throw 1618 yards which was a school record at the time only to break that record his junior year. That record is #4 in DHS history with his junior year at #2 and his cousin David Rose holding the #3 spot. Tony also holds the top 3 spots for touchdowns in a season by throwing 20 as a sophomore.

GAME SUMMARY

The crowd was electric from the beginning as there was an increased police presence at the game in which included a sweep of the stadium because of a bomb threat that had been made at Douglas High School. Bisbee opened the game up with a 14-0 lead after one quarter of play. The second quarter started with a long rushing touchdown by team captain Tony Chavez. At the half Bisbee lead 26-7 as Douglas could not stop the Pumas spread attack. In the beginning of the 4th quarter Douglas started to close the gap as the score was 32-19 in favor of Bisbee. However, on their next drive the Pumas Spencer Schuler who was later named the MVP, scored his third touchdown to put the game away. The final score was Bisbee 46- Douglas 19.
