In 2011, the Mission Viejo Diablos traveled across country to face the Don Bosco Prep Ironmen in their home state of New Jersey. They traveled so far only to lose to the number one team in the country at that time. Well, during this Classic Football event in Mission Viejo, the Diablos were able to hold onto the win in a forced overtime situation and force the Ironmen to travel back home with a loss.
HALL OF FAME
Don Bosco came into the game ranked No. 4 in The Star-Ledger Top 20 and managed to erase a 13-point deficit to force overtime. Ultimately, the win was a result of an 11-yard touchdown run by Alex Suchesk in the first overtime. Elijah Ibitokun-Hanks ran for a 9-yard TD with 1:01 left in the fourth quarter and Alex Kaplanovich caught a pass from Frank Nutile to complete the two-point conversion and put Don Bosco ahead, 22-19. Mission Viejo tied the game up with seven seconds left on a 32-yard field goal by Zachary Olson.
