Each year the Depew vs Lancaster rivalry game is always held off as the last game of the year, the game that can send one team into the playoffs with a huge win over the cross town rivalry. For over 80 years, the Lancaster verse Depew rivalry has never disappointed. The Lancaster Legends hosted the rivalry this year and to add more excitement to the rivalry, the Legends were competing for an undefeated regular season record and the Class AA South Division Title. The Legends achieved their season goal, with a 51-24 win over Depew the Legends ended their regular season the with Class AA South Division Title, 6-0 regular season record and 4-0 record in conference play. Next stop for the Legends is the playoffs.

Sean has been in the Lancaster football program since modified at Lancaster Middle School. He is a member of the National Honors Society and has been on the honor roll his entire high school career. Sean plans to attend RIT to pursue a degree in computer engineering.
Jonathan Wolf

Depew

Jon is a 2-year letterman on the varsity football team and a 2-year letterman in baseball. He is a Captain on this year’s football team and has received ECIC All-Star recognition in baseball. Jon is a member of the National Honors Society and plans to attend college and major in education.

Gary Slachetka

Lancaster

Gary was the recipient of 1st team all WNY linebacker, 1st team Section 6 Division 1 offensive linemen and Lancaster Tomahawk Award. Gary played offense, defense and special teams during his career at Lancaster. Gary started the Lancaster Football Alumni and is on the Hall of Fame selection committee. Gary is married to Sharyn “Pfister” Slachetka and has 3 children, Syndney, Spencer, and Shelby.
Lou Cacciotti

Depew

Lou was a 1961 graduate of Depew High School. He played in the Rivalry in 1958, 1959, and 1960. A 3 year starter at quarterback, Lou directed Coach Frank Constantino’s Belly Series with great precision, leading the Wildcats to a 21-3 record during his varsity career including 3 consecutive wins over rival Lancaster. Lou was a 1st Team All-ECIC selection and was inducted into the Depew High School, Alumni Wall of Fame in 2014.

GAME SUMMARY

The Lancaster Legends started the game with the ball and on the third play of the game MVP Zach Sambroski ran for a 80+ yard touchdown and the Legends never let up. The Legends ran over 226 yards with an average of six yard per attempt throughout the game. MVP Zach Samborski lead the way for the Legends with 126 yards and a touchdown. Depew got into their grove late in the 1st quarter with a touchdown, but it was Lancaster who quickly responded back by converting touchdowns off turnovers and some impressive touchdown passes and by catches by the Lancaster duo Ryan Mansell to LG Castillo.
