It’s that time of the year again when the gridiron gladiators of Cedar Hill High School clash with the fierce competitors from DeSoto High School. The Battle of Beltline, one of the most storied and intense rivalries in high school football, is set to ignite the passions of fans on October 20th, 2023. This year’s edition marks the 20th season of the Great American Rivalry Series, a testament to the enduring spirit of these two football powerhouses.

With a slight edge in the all-time series, DeSoto leads Cedar Hill 10-9 in their 19 meetings since the inaugural clash in 2004. However, it’s worth noting that last year’s game saw DeSoto emerge victorious with a convincing 45-20 scoreline. The Longhorns of Cedar Hill, determined to reclaim their pride, will be seeking redemption and looking to reverse their fortunes on the field this time around.

“The Battle of Beltline has become a symbol of passion and competition in high school football. The energy and excitement that emanate from these two communities are unparalleled,” says Rick Ford, the founder and CEO of the Great American Rivalry Series. “The 20th season promises to be another thrilling chapter in this historic rivalry.”

The clash between the Longhorns and the Eagles is sure to electrify the crowd, with approximately 7,500 fans expected to pack the stadium, creating an atmosphere that is nothing short of breathtaking. The mascots, the Longhorns and the Eagles, will lead their respective teams onto the field, igniting the roaring spirit of their loyal fan bases.

As the teams take the field, all eyes will be on the athletes who carry the hopes and dreams of their communities on their shoulders. The last meeting witnessed a stunning 75-yard touchdown run from Cedar Hill, but it was DeSoto who emerged triumphant. Both teams showcased their offensive prowess, amassing a total of 670 yards combined. Mistakes were made, turnovers occurred, but this year, both squads will be aiming for a cleaner game, executing their strategies flawlessly.

Get ready for a night filled with adrenaline, passion, and unforgettable moments. The Battle of Beltline, the climax of a decades-long rivalry, is destined to captivate football fans across the nation. Strap on your seatbelts, brace yourself for the thrilling action, and remember, “We Know Friday Nights.”

Two football powerhouses went head-to-head tonight in the Lone Star State, with a 10-9 record behind them both the Cedar Hill Longhorns and DeSoto Eagles had a lot to prove tonight, and fans did not come to play after a great showing to support both teams. After last year’s defeat the Longhorns did their best to keep up with the Desoto Eagles in the first half but trailed behind 21-7, with a touchdown by the Eagles with just 3 1/2 minutes remaining in the quarter. The last half did not come easily but the Longhorns could just not keep up with the Eagles as the game came to a close 35-13. Soaring ahead in their record-breaking game the Desoto Eagles now lead 11-9 in this teams now 20-year long rivalry on a night of the 20th anniversary of the Great American Rivalry Series!
