It was a clear night in Apex, NC as the fans came in the thousands to watch and witness for themselves the 50+ year old rivalry game. It was Apex’s first game of the season with expectations to have a first class rivalry game against Cary High School.

Mark Tate
Apex
Mark Tate is in his fourth year as a member of the Apex football team. He has been active in DECA, and last year placed first in the state in the statewide intern marketing project. Mark is a member of both the National Honor Society and the National Technical Honor Society.
Jackson Gomez
Cary
Jackson Gomez is a 3-year letterman on the Cary varsity football team. He was named News Observer Scholar Athlete of the week; is an officer in the National Honor Society;and is a 3-year letterman in track and field.

Adam Nelson
Apex
Adam Nelson played in the first Great American Rivalry Series game against Cary in 2010. He was a 2-year starter at Apex and was one of the team’s captains. Adam was awarded the Great American Rivalry Series Scholar-Athlete Award in 2010. He is currently a freshman at North Carolina State University with plans to major in Biomedical Engineering.
Josh Adams
Cary
Josh Adams was a 4-year varsity running back and linebacker starter for Cary. His individual rushing career totaled of 7,220 yards and placed him 6th all time in the State of North Carolina as well as Cary High’s all-time leading rusher. Josh participated in the Shrine Bowl of the Carolina’s all-star game. He then attended Wake Forest University, where he became the 2007 Atlantic Coast Conference Rookie of the Year.
